تمرینات – فصل چهارم

1- یک مقوله مفهومی مثل ارجاع زمانی، جنسیت دستوری، قابل شمارش بودن، پیدایی، حالت فعلی وجهی یا جانداری را انتخاب کنید و آن را به نحوی که در زبان مقصد خودتان و زبان انگلیسی به کار می‌رود، باهم مقایسه کنید. به‌ویژه در مورد مشکلاتی که تفاوت‌ها در نحوه بیان آن مفهوم موردنظر در دو زبان، می‌توانند در امر ترجمه ایجاد نمایند، نظر خود را بنویسید. ممکن است مفید باشد که به دستور زبان‌های مبدأ و مقصد رجوع کنید و اساس بحث خود را بر روی تحلیل متون ترجمه‌شده معتبر قرار دهید.

۲- تصور کنید که از شما به‌طور مشروط خواسته‌شده تا كتاب The Russia House (1989) نوشته ژان لو کاری را به زبان خودتان (= زبان مقصد) ترجمه کنید. قبل از بستن قرارداد ترجمه، ناشران اصرار دارند که شما چندصفحه‌ای از ترجمه را به‌عنوان نمونه ترجمه به آن‌ها بدهید تا آن‌ها بتوانند توانایی شمارا به‌عنوان مترجمی برای این نوع از ادبیات ارزیابی کنند. آن‌ها قطعه زیر را انتخاب می‌کنند و از شما می‌خواهند تا نسخه مقصد آن را به آنان بدهید و اذعان دارند که شما وقت ندارید که کل رمان را بخوانید و فقط می‌خواهند دریابند که ترجمه شما از کاربرد متمایز زبان توسط لو كاری چگونه خواهد بود.

John Le Carré’s The Russia House is a spy thriller which revolves around the then new era of glasnost in the Soviet Union. The seneral feeling that one gets from reading this novel is that nothing much has changed and that the cold-war machinations are still at play and are as irrelevant and as brutal as ever. The narrator in the following extract is Palfrey, legal adviser to the British secret service or, in his own words.. ‘Legal adviser to the illegals (P 47), In this passage, which is very near the end of the book, lie ironlicdl sums up the manner in which the hypocritical bureaucrats of Wliilchalam Washington dealt with their own inadequacies when their major spying

operation went wrong. The various people mentioned, such as Ned and Barley, had all been had all been involved in the operation in one way or another.

It was also noted that regret that the same Legal Adviser had drafted a glowing testimonial of Barleys of Clive’s signature not forty-eight hours before Barley’s disappearance, thus enabling Barley to take possession of the shopping list, ** though presumably not for long.

In my spare hours, I drew up Ned’s terms of severance and thought nervously about my own. Life inside the Service might have its limitations but the thought of life outside it terrified me.

به‌طور مفصل درباره استراتژی‌هایی که برای برطرف کردن معضلات به‌ویژه در سطح دستور به کاربردید، اظهار نظر کنید – کتاب Miss Sonilla ‘ s Feeling for Snow عنوان یکی از دو ترجمه انگلیسی از رمانی است که توسط مؤلف دانمارکی پیتر هونگ نوشته شده و جایزه برده است، این کتاب در سال ۱۹۹۲ چاپ شد. این داستان در سطح درباره اسمیلا قاويقاق یاسپرسن (دختر یک مادر اپنيوت گرینلندی و یک دندانپزشکی پولدار دانمارکی) است که به مرگ یک کودک گرینلندی در کپنهاگ مشکوک می‌شود و تصمیم می‌گیرد راجع به آن تحقیق کند. در سطحی ژرف‌تر، این داستان درباره تاریخچه مستعمراتی دانمارک و رابطه بین گروه‌های مختلف در جامعه امروزی دانمارکی است.

در قطعه زیر (هونگ ۲۶۳- 262: 2005)، اسمیلا از تأمل راجع به موقعیت کنونی‌اش به یادآوری وجوهی از زندگی گذشته‌اش می‌پردازد.

The year I was born my mother travelled to West Greenland and br home the girl’s name. Millaaraq. Because it reminded Moritz of the Danish word mild, which didn’t exist in the vocabulary of his love relationship with mother, because he wanted to transform everything Greenlandic into cthing that would make it European and familiar, and because I apparently had smiled at him – the boundless trust of an infant, which comes n the fact that she still doesn’t know what’s in store for her – my parents ed on Smillaaraq. With the wear and Icar that time subjects all of us to, it was shortened to Smilla.
